The harsh truth is that most boots are made from materials that are anything but eco-friendly – think animal leather and virgin plastics (read our blog about boot materials to understand why these are bad). These boots are worn for a season or two, then discarded. Destined to linger in landfills for centuries. It’s an unsustainable cycle, with over 12.5 million boots discarded annually in just the US and Europe. But with Scudetta, we’re breaking that cycle. This is a start, not an end. When it’s all added up, our boot is 42% bio-based (and another 6% recycled). But we want to reach 100%.

How do we get there? Well, we’ve got our finger on the pulse of production. Seeing what’s hitting the market each year and how we could utilise it. Plus, the more that people demand eco-friendly products, the bigger the incentive to develop new bio-based materials with even more of a bio percentage.
